Degraded land leads to highest runoff and soil erosion in watershed.
The study looked at how different types of land use affect runoff and erosion in Hilkot watershed, Pakistan. They studied degraded, pasture, forest, and agriculture plots to see how much runoff and soil erosion occurred. They found that agriculture plots had the highest runoff compared to the other land uses. Soil erosion was highest on degraded plots and lowest on pasture plots. The researchers also found a strong relationship between rainfall and runoff on all land use plots. Overall, the study showed that different types of land use can have a big impact on runoff and erosion in the watershed.
