Rural Women in India Increasingly Opting for Health Care Facilities During Delivery
Delivery care is important for the health of mothers and babies. A study in rural areas of Allahabad district, India, looked at where women give birth. They found that more than half of deliveries now happen in healthcare facilities, while less than half occur at home. Women with higher education tend to choose healthcare facilities for delivery. Factors like education, age at marriage, and living conditions influence where women give birth. Challenges like distance to healthcare centers, lack of transportation, and financial issues can lead to home deliveries. Overall, more women are giving birth in healthcare facilities, but there are still differences based on socio-economic status.
