University of Iowa leads the way in green energy revolution.
The University of Iowa developed a biomass-fueled steam generation system using biomass gasification technology. This system is a research and educational facility for studying gasification in steam generation. It can run on wood-based fuels and other biomass sources within a 100-mile radius. The project includes hands-on learning opportunities for students and supports national and state energy initiatives. The University of Iowa is leading in renewable energy technologies, including biomass combustion and a renewable district energy system. The project aims to use byproducts from ethanol and biodiesel processes, industry residues, farm materials, and poplar trees for gasification.
