The researchers compared the growth and production of two different strains of Nile tilapia fish. They found that the Genetically Improved Farmed Tilapia (GIFT) and FaST selected tilapia strains grew faster, weighed more, and had better feed conversion ratios compared to the non-improved strain. The GIFT and FaST strains showed higher production rates, indicating they are better for tilapia farming in Kuwait. The improvements in weight, growth rate, and production were significant in both experiments, showing the potential for increased profitability in tilapia farms by using these improved strains.
