Communal grazing in Zimbabwe jeopardizes livestock production and livelihoods.
The study looked at how different grazing systems in Zimbabwe affect the health of the land and how much livestock it can support. They checked 15 sites with different types of grazing systems and found that communal rangelands had more woody plants, less useful grass, and lower food for animals compared to commercial rangelands. This means that if things don't change, it might be hard to raise livestock on communal lands in the future. The researchers suggest using a different grazing system to help both the animals and the land.
