Human activities in China's nature reserves threaten wildlife conservation.
The researchers developed a method to measure the impact of human activities on wildlife habitats in a Chinese nature reserve. They found that factors like land use intensity, population density, traffic accessibility, and industrial activities affect landscape fragmentation. The study showed that some areas were at higher risk due to human activities, with population density having the biggest impact near settlements. Over five years, the impact risk areas expanded, especially due to road construction. This research can help assess ecological risks in other nature reserves worldwide.
