Fugitive methane not as harmful as thought, natural gas still preferable.
Fugitive methane from natural gas leaks is often seen as a big problem for global warming. But because methane doesn't stay in the atmosphere as long as carbon dioxide, its impact is not as severe as it seems. The weight of the methane molecule also affects its global warming potential. Even with some leaks, using natural gas for power is better for the environment than coal in the long run.
