Cancer patients can now preserve fertility through sperm banking, new study finds
Semen cryopreservation helps men with cancer preserve their fertility for the future. In a study of 122 Japanese men with cancer, sperm banking was found to be successful in preserving sperm quality. Men with testicular cancer had lower sperm concentration but higher motility compared to other cancer types. Out of the men who used the banked semen, over 40% achieved clinical pregnancies. This study shows that semen cryopreservation is a quick and effective way to preserve fertility in men undergoing cancer treatment.
