Hybrid Wetland Systems Outperform in Polishing Municipal Wastewater Effluent
The study compared different types of wetland systems to clean up wastewater at a treatment plant in Kenya. The hybrid system with Vetiver grass was the most effective in removing pollutants like chemicals and solids. It cleaned up the water better than the other systems. The vertical system also did a good job, especially with chemicals, while the horizontal system was best at removing solids. Overall, the planted systems worked better than the unplanted ones.
