New irrigation technique saves water without harming banana plants' health.
The study looked at how different irrigation methods affect the growth of 'BRS Princesa' bananas. They tested five different watering strategies and found that using Partial Rootzone Drying (PRD) with 50% less water didn't harm the plants' health. Even though the plants received less water, their photosynthesis and water use efficiency stayed the same. This means that PRD could be a good way to save water while keeping banana plants healthy.
