Indian textile industry needs to diversify for global competitiveness.
The study looked at how competitive the Indian textile industry is in terms of growth, diversification, and sophistication from 2005 to 2015. The results show that Indian textile exports are not very competitive because they focus on a few products and have slow growth. Compared to the rest of the world, Indian textile products are not very diverse. To be more competitive, India should focus on making and trading more technologically advanced textile products, especially in the garment sector.
