Hybrid wetland system effectively cleans municipal wastewater, improving water quality.
A study evaluated a hybrid constructed wetland treating municipal wastewater by replacing vegetation with new plants. The system effectively reduced nitrogen, phosphorus, and organic matter levels in the water. The new plants, Phragmites australis and Iris pseudacorus, adapted well and absorbed significant amounts of nutrients from the water. This approach shows promise for improving water quality in wastewater treatment systems.
