New model predicts urban runoff faster, revolutionizing flood prevention efforts.
The Penn State Direct Hydrograph Model generates synthetic unit and runoff hydrographs using watershed and rainfall data. It simplifies the process by deriving gamma distribution parameters for the runoff hydrograph, avoiding the traditional stepwise summation of rainfall effects. This model can handle large watersheds with up to 100 subareas on a microcomputer much faster than other available models.
