Bangladesh Banks Implement Effective Strategies to Manage Credit Risk Successfully.
The article investigates how private banks in Bangladesh manage credit risks. The researchers collected data from 23 banks and found that these banks have good credit risk management practices. They use methods like credit risk grading to assess borrowers' creditworthiness. To reduce risks, banks focus on collateral, accurate loan pricing, and third-party guarantees. They also monitor loans closely and remind clients about overdue payments. However, challenges include a lack of experienced credit officers, market information, and awareness of non-genuine borrowers. This study is the first to look at credit risk management strategies in private banks in Bangladesh.
