New wind farm in Algerian desert to power homes year-round!
The article investigates the potential for building wind farms in an arid region of Algeria. Wind data from 13 years was analyzed to select suitable sites for wind farm development. The study found that the area has an average wind speed of 3.94 m/s and a mean power density of 152W/m^2 at 10m above sea level. The prevailing winds come from the west throughout the year, with spring being the windiest season. The research also determined the annual energy output, capacity factor, and operating hours for different types of wind turbines in the region.
