Microbreweries in Sweden face wastewater treatment dilemma with growing industry.
Microbreweries in Sweden are facing challenges with treating their wastewater. A study focused on Remmarlov Gardsbryggeri found high levels of COD, BOD, phosphorus, and low pH in their wastewater. A survey of 20 major microbreweries in Sweden revealed different wastewater treatment methods, including municipal treatment, infiltration, and spreading on farmland. Municipal treatment offers the best purification but is costly. Infiltration with pre-treatment for phosphorus reduction is a suitable option for Remmarlov Gardsbryggeri. Spreading wastewater on farmland or using Salix also showed good purification results.
