Emerging economy firms thrive internationally through strategic joint ventures.
Emerging economy firms often invest abroad to gain knowledge, but we don't know much about other ways they can get this knowledge. This study looked at how working with foreign companies in their home country affects where these firms choose to invest. The study found that firms with experience in joint ventures at home are more likely to invest in more advanced countries abroad. Also, the strength of the firm's industry at home plays a role in this decision. This research helps us understand how emerging market firms make decisions about investing overseas to gain knowledge.
