Revolutionizing maize-chickpea yields: targeted approach boosts growth and nutrient uptake.
The researchers studied how different targeted yield approaches affected the growth, yield, and nutrient uptake of maize and chickpea crops in Karnataka. Applying nutrients through SSNM for a targeted yield of 8.0 t/ha resulted in higher plant height, more leaves per plant, increased grain yield, and better uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in maize. Chickpea crops also showed better growth and yield attributes with the residual effect of nutrients applied through SSNM. Overall, the SSNM approach for targeted yield of 8.0 t/ha showed the most positive impact on both maize and chickpea crops compared to other treatments.
