New forest policy agenda shifts focus to private sector and local communities.
The African Forest Policy Forum in 1996 discussed new forest policies in Sub-Saharan Africa. The focus is on governments shifting to policy-making and planning roles, leaving tree planting and production to private sectors and local communities. The forum shared case studies on policy reforms, community involvement, private sector participation, and capacity building. The main goal was to learn from experiences of implementing new forest policies in Africa.
