Indian coking coal washability study reveals potential for reduced import dependency.
Coking coal is important for making iron and steel. Indian coal can be crushed to different sizes for industry use. By washing the coal, we can separate out the useful parts. The study looked at how crushing affects the quality of Indian coking coal. They found that smaller coal particles are better for getting clean coal with low ash content. The research showed that coal crushed to 6mm size gives higher quality coal compared to 50mm size. The study revealed that 6mm coal can yield around 44.5% clean coal with 10% ash, while 50mm coal yields only 24.5%.
