Solar-powered chiller system provides 24/7 cooling with energy storage.
Solar-powered absorption chillers for cooling need energy storage to work when the sun isn't shining. A study looked at a system that combines a solar-driven chiller with an absorption energy storage unit. They found that the system can provide cooling and store energy at the same time. The cooling power of the chiller depends on how much sunlight there is, reaching up to 20 kW on a sunny day in Saudi Arabia. The system's efficiency is 0.69, and the energy storage unit can hold 119.6 kWh of energy per cubic meter. The system operates well within safe temperature and pressure levels, showing that it's feasible to combine energy storage with a chiller.
