High bio-available phosphorus in Nansi Lake sediment poses environmental threat.
Phosphorus in sediment from Nansi Lake was studied using a method called sequential extraction. The researchers found that bio-available phosphorus made up a significant portion of the total phosphorus in the sediment, especially in the surface layers. Inorganic phosphorus was the most common type of phosphorus in both surface sediment and sediment cores, suggesting that the lake's sediment is mainly made up of inorganic material.
