Integrated wetlands slash urban lake pollution by over 50%!
Constructed wetlands combined with urban lakes are effective in improving stormwater quality. A study compared a standalone urban lake with a wetland/lake system and found that the integrated system performed better. The wetland helped reduce turbidity, suspended solids, total solids, and nutrients like nitrogen significantly. On average, the wetland decreased total solids, ammonium, and phosphate levels by 50%, 62%, and 53%, respectively.
