Model comparison is important in structural equation modeling. Different criteria like AIC and BIC help choose the best model. A study compared these criteria in various conditions. The chance of picking the best model increased with more errors and larger sample sizes. BIC was generally better than AIC, except with few errors and small samples. SPBIC and HBIC were the most accurate in most conditions.
