The article predicts the Human Development Index (HDI) of Latin American countries for 2013 and 2014 using data mining techniques. The researchers tested 90 prediction models and found that global multivariate models provided more accurate predictions than specific multivariate or univariate models. The predictions closely matched the HDI trends reported by the United Nations Development Program. Overall, using multivariate time series for HDI prediction leads to better learning algorithms and more accurate forecasts.
