Maximizing Mustard Yield and Soil Health with Sulphur, Zinc, and FYM Application
The researchers conducted a field experiment to see how adding sulphur, zinc, and farmyard manure (FYM) affected the yield and soil properties of mustard plants grown in Kachchh. They tested different levels of sulphur and zinc, along with or without FYM, over two years. The soil was low in nitrogen, sulphur, and zinc, but medium in phosphorus and potassium. They found that applying 60 kg of sulphur and 5.0 kg of zinc per hectare, along with 10 t of FYM, resulted in the highest yield and improved soil nutrient content and physical properties. This combination also led to the best economic benefits, with a benefit-cost ratio of 4.84:1.
