UK-EU trade deal could undermine Brexit's independence goals
WTO rules say a UK-EU trade deal can't focus on just a few sectors. But if they make a broad deal, they can keep most benefits of the Customs Union and Single Market in key sectors. They could coordinate tariffs and have relaxed Rules of Origin. This would allow deep integration, but not as much access as now. It might limit the UK's independent trade policy. However, it can still follow WTO rules, treating all countries equally.
