New hydrological model predicts river flow for improved land management in Sumatra.
The researchers aimed to predict river flow in a catchment area with limited data to help with land and water management in Singkarak basin. They installed equipment to record water and weather data and used two models to predict river flow. The data showed that stream discharge increased quickly during rain and slowly released water afterward. The models accurately predicted river flow, with one model having a similarity coefficient of 87.9% and the other 96%. This successful prediction can help plan land and water management for farming in the Singkarak basin.
