Blast-proof glass could fail in extreme temperatures, putting lives at risk
Laminated glass panes change their strength with temperature. A study tested how temperature affects the strength of laminated glass with different thicknesses of a material called PVB. They found that at lower temperatures, the bond between the glass and PVB gets stronger, but the PVB material itself becomes less flexible. The thickness of the PVB layer also affects how the glass responds after it cracks.
