Homes waste energy despite daylight, costing families thousands annually
The research looked at how natural light from the sun affects the use of electric lights in a house in a cold place. Data on both indoor artificial light use and outdoor conditions were collected. The results revealed that there is only a small link between how much natural light is available and how often artificial lights are switched on in the house. So, in this particular home, the artificial lights were not greatly influenced by how much sunlight was coming in.
