Floating wetland treatment systems are being tested in Bribie Island, Australia to clean up urban runoff. These systems can remove pollutants from stormwater more efficiently and cost-effectively than traditional methods. The study design includes special baffles to ensure all runoff passes through the wetlands for better results. Initial findings show that the pollutant levels in the runoff are lower than expected, which could impact the effectiveness of the treatment system.
