March Harvest Boosts Sugar Yield in Sugarcane Varieties.
The researchers conducted 12 field experiments with different sugarcane varieties to study their sugar production. They found that harvesting sugarcane in March resulted in higher sugar yields compared to harvesting in January. Specifically, varieties PR 980, PR 1059, PR 1048, and B 37-172 produced more sugar when harvested in March at 12 months of age. This suggests that the timing of harvest can impact sugar content in sugarcane plants.
