Bluefin tuna caught in the Adriatic Sea by purse seine fisheries were studied to compare the size composition over time. Juvenile bluefin tuna, especially two-year-old specimens, were found to be the most abundant in both historical and recent catches. This confirms that the minimum size regulations for purse seine fisheries targeting bluefin tuna in the Adriatic Sea are effective.
