The researchers studied 53 different types of chickpeas to see how different traits like plant height, number of branches, and seed yield are related. They found that the number of pods per plant and the number of secondary branches have the biggest impact on seed yield. This means that if a chickpea plant has more pods and branches, it is likely to produce more seeds. The study was done in 2011-12 at Banaras Hindu University in India.
