Genomic selection boosts genetic gain and profit in Bavarian pig breeding
Genomic selection schemes were modeled in Bavarian pig breeding programs using ZPLAN+. Compared to traditional methods, genomic selection led to higher genetic gains and profits. Increasing the size of the reference population and genotyping more male candidates further improved genetic gains and profits.
