Delays in a project can make the work more expensive and less efficient. When a project is delayed, the contractor's productivity can decrease, leading to even more delays and higher costs. This decrease in efficiency is known as "inefficiency" or "lost productivity". Delays can either directly cause inefficiency or be a result of it.
