A new image segmentation algorithm was developed using genetic algorithm to improve the traditional Otsu method. By simplifying the process and introducing a concept of small dispersion, the algorithm achieved better segmentation results with less computational complexity. The new approach outperformed the original method in both theoretical analysis and practical experiments.
