Floating Wetlands Revolutionize Urban Runoff Pollution Removal Efficiency
Constructed Floating Wetlands were studied for their ability to clean up urban runoff in a stormwater pond in Australia. After two years, the wetlands showed significant removal of dirt and phosphorus from the water. While they didn't do as well with nitrogen, they still made a difference. The study suggests that making the wetlands bigger and adding more aeration zones could make them even more effective at cleaning up pollution from city water.
