China's Land Consolidation Programs Fail to Improve Farmland Quality and Quantity
China has been working on improving its farmland through land consolidation projects since 1998. A study looked at how these projects were distributed across the country from 2006 to 2012. They found that the implementation of these projects was not consistent with the potential for improving farmland quality. The national plan for land consolidation did not effectively guide these projects, leading to differences in implementation across the country. The study suggests that better management and operational strategies are needed for land consolidation in the future.
