Thermochromic cladding slashes energy costs, transforms building aesthetics.
The goal of the study was to improve the energy efficiency and appearance of Wates House in London by re-cladding it with a special type of glass that changes color based on temperature. By using this innovative cladding, the building can reduce energy consumption for lighting and heating/cooling, while still maintaining comfortable conditions for occupants. The simulations showed that this approach can significantly decrease energy usage compared to traditional air-conditioned offices, creating a modern, attractive, and energy-efficient facade.
