Revolutionary Wetland Technology Improves Wastewater Treatment Efficiency in China
Constructed wetlands in Taihu Lake, China were evaluated for treating wastewater plant effluent. The researchers used a method called AHP to create an evaluation system and found that vertical-flow wetlands were the most effective, especially for removing organic matter. They also discovered that integrated-flow wetlands were best for removing nitrogen contamination. Overall, vertical-flow wetlands showed high comprehensive benefits, while ecological ponds were less effective due to their mechanisms and microorganism roles.
