The article shares a new way to measure the carbon footprint of growing rice in Vietnam. Most methods for calculating carbon footprints don't focus specifically on rice. The researchers designed a unique method to trace the carbon emissions starting from before the rice is grown until after it's harvested. They found some greenhouse gas sources during the rice life cycle were left out because it's hard to gather data or calculate them.
