Rehabilitation efforts in Three Gorges Reservoir Area boost seed bank diversity
The researchers studied the seed bank in a restored area of the Three Gorges Reservoir. They looked at the seeds in the soil and compared them to the plants growing there. They found that the soil seed bank had many herbaceous plants, with most being introduced species. The diversity of species and seed density varied across different parts of the area. The soil seed bank was most similar to the standing vegetation in the middle upper parts of the draw-down zone.
