Spain is currently facing a severe economic crisis due to the burst of the housing bubble in 2008. This has led to a high unemployment rate, reaching over 25% in 2012. The goal of the research is to understand the root causes, consequences, and recoveries of the recession for sustainable economic growth in Spain. The study reviews previous research on economic recessions and provides a basis for future studies in developed countries.
