New technology boosts efficiency of power plants, reducing energy consumption.
Ion transfer membrane technology can improve the efficiency of power plants by reducing energy consumption during air separation. A study looked at how different factors like air extraction rate, oxygen separation rate, and temperature affect the performance of a power plant. Results showed that higher air extraction and oxygen separation rates can boost efficiency and lower power consumption. Temperature changes had less impact on performance. The best parameters for operation were found to be air extraction rates of 0.8-1.0, oxygen separation rates of 70-90%, and an operation temperature of 800°C. Compared to traditional methods, using ion transfer membranes increased the power plant's efficiency by 1.0-0.6%.
