Soil management methods impact soil health in humid tropical regions.
In a humid tropical region in Indonesia, researchers studied how different soil management methods affected soil properties over 20 years. They compared intensive tillage, minimum tillage, and no tillage. The results showed that conservation tillage methods (minimum and no tillage) improved soil quality compared to intensive tillage. Soils under conservation tillage had higher organic matter content, better soil structure, and improved chemical properties. No tillage was slightly better than minimum tillage.
