Natural gas is an important clean energy source for the world's shift to low-carbon energy. A study looked at how the demand for natural gas in China is affected by prices and income in different sectors. The results show that natural gas demand in China varies across sectors. In most sectors, the demand for natural gas increases when prices go up, unlike in developed countries. Natural gas is used alongside coal in industry and power generation, but not in the residents sector. In the transportation sector, natural gas and oil are substitutes, while in the service sector, natural gas and coal are substitutes.
