High-Speed Railway Faces Extreme Winds, Posing Safety Risks for Passengers.
The researchers analyzed wind characteristics in a 100-Kilometer Wind Area along the Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-Speed Railway in 2015. They found that the area experiences high wind speeds, long periods of wind, and consistent wind direction. The strongest winds reached 40.1m/s, mainly between mileage K2982 and K3033. The number of strong wind days in 2015 was 216, with 32 days having wind speeds of at least 32.7m/s. The dominant wind direction was between NNE and NNW, with winds blowing perpendicular to the railway line.
