Bed sowing boosts garlic bulb size, leading to higher market prices.
The study looked at how different ways of planting garlic affected the size of the bulbs and the amount of garlic produced. They planted garlic cloves in both beds and ridges, with different spacings between the cloves. They found that planting in beds gave bigger bulbs, even though the overall yield was slightly lower. This means that garlic planted in beds can fetch a higher price at market.
