European cities are facing challenges in creating urban spaces that meet complex needs with limited resources. Urban facilities are crucial for creating prosperous and inclusive societies. Due to fiscal austerity and new social demands, traditional approaches to urban facility planning need to be rethought. European spatial planning systems must be reorganized to plan efficiently and sustainably. The role of spatial planning in urban facilities is being questioned, and a more open and flexible approach is needed.
